Concrete Finishing

Tamp Finish

A tamp finish is a rough textured ridged finish which allows for maximum grip for roadways or paths but is also hard wearing and pleasant to the eye. A tamp finish is mostly used in agricultural yards, loading bays or road ways that are often soiled or muddy. We create the tamp finish by raising and lowering a tamping beam after the concrete has just been poured.

  • Quick to lay
  • Cost effective
  • Maximum Grip
  • Helps with drainage

Brush Finish

This type of finish is achieved by brushing the concrete with a hard bristled broom to create stroke marks. This method is best suited for concrete yards, roads, garage forecourts or anywhere there is external or sometimes internal traffic or plant. The brush finish gives extra grip to an area which is useful for wet or slippery conditions. We normally pour our yards in grids to allow for natural contraction also giving a uniformed finish. A brush finish is also recommended for pedestrian foot paths or walkways.

Benefits of brush finish;

  • Cost effective
  • Quicker to lay
  • Added traction/grip
  • Effective for drainage
  • Suitable for heavy machinery
  • Longer lasting and more durable than asphalt or decorative stone

Easy-Float Finish

This finish is a smooth but not a polished concrete finish.  An Easy-Float finish is generally desired for buildings that are expecting heavy traffic or for external areas that need a smooth finish.

  • Cost effective compared to polishing
  • Suitable for car parks or driveways
  • Effective internally especially for plant or machinery
  • Slightly textured non slippery finish
  • Low maintenance
  • Hard wearing

Polished/Power-Float Finish

A power float is essentially a series of trowels that are machine operated to smooth concrete to a greater standard than a conventional hand used trowel. Power-floating adds strength to the concrete by compacting it which allows for heavy use. The other benefit of power-floating are;

  • reduced risk of plastic shrinkage
  • easy to maintain
  • does not create dust
  • hard wearing surface which reduces the risk of damage
  • complements any building with a polished professional look
